VOTER GUIDE

To vote, you must bring one of the approved forms of photo identification below. With the exception of the U.S. citizenship certificate, the identification must be current or, for voters aged 18-69, have expired no more than 4 years before being presented for voter qualification at the polling place. A person 70 years of age or older may use a form of identification listed below that has expired if the identification is otherwise valid.

• Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
• U.S. military identification card containing the person’s photograph
• Texas personal identification card issued by DPS
• Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
• United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph
• United States passport (book or card)
• Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)

Eligible voters may obtain a Texas Election Identification Certificate from DPS at no charge.

If you do not possess and cannot reasonably obtain one of the seven acceptable forms of photo ID, you may present one of the supporting forms of identification below. The election official will help you complete a Reasonable Impediment Declaration at the polling location, and you’ll be able to vote.

• Valid Voter Registration Certificate
• Copy or original of a certified domestic birth certificate or a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law that establishes the voter’s identity
• Copy of or original Bank Statement
• Copy of or original Government check or paycheck
• Copy of or original current Utility Bill
• Copy of or original government document with your name and an address (original required if it contains a photograph)

If you possess an acceptable photo ID but did not bring it, the Reasonable Impediment Declaration procedure does not apply. You may return with the ID before the polls close or vote provisionally and follow the applicable cure procedure.

Yes. During early voting, any qualified Montgomery County registered voter may vote at any Montgomery County Early Voting location during hours of operation.
